I thought it was so-so funny, but what I really laughed at was how horrifically out of date it is.

Don't like the frat boy types that live in Lakeview? Ok so what? Then don't visit Lakeview. I hate this us vs. them attitude. Why can't people just let people be? Very nonobjective article that was probably written by a hipster. And while I try to be objective, I find that hipsters tend to be the WORST when it comes to this us vs. them business.
I think you're taking it way too seriously. I took the article as just a humorous, lighthearted jab. Totally tongue in cheek.

I posted it here because it reminded me of many of the conversations here.

Why single out Lincoln Square. What makes Lincoln Square more "uppity" than most of those other neighborhoods on the list?

Because if I said uppity people in Pilsen I wouldn't get quite the same reaction.

It would have be funny 10 years ago. Today, not so much.

Yes, you are. I've never heard of a local who likes Navy Pier, and Lincoln Park & Wicker Park are about as similar as two neighborhoods can get in 2013. In the 90s they were different. You don't have to find it to be factually accurate to find it funny though. Lighten up.

It's funny like Dane Cook is funny. Tired stereotypes delivered poorly.

Humor is subjective, but in terms of accuracy it wouldn't have worked as well 10 years ago. There wouldn't have been many parent-supported artist kids in Pilsen or uppity people in Lincoln Square in 2003, and while Wicker Park may have been fairly gentrified by then, it didn't have had the Lincoln Park-level of whitewash that it has now.
