Of course many of you hate McMansions so I'm sure you wouldn't find this appealing. I love it!
If you keep your mind focused on what you are used to and seeing Chicago as not having it as a negative, you won't find anything like. We know what you like, but you aren't going to find that there. The soon you can let that go, the sooner you can open yourself up to something else.

Yes -- and this is why I'll now focus our search on condos and town homes. I never have a problem finding listings I love in the city.

Good day!

This reminds me about the show house hunters.
Couples want all the space in the world, preferably brand new, located in the middle of everything and they want all this for very little money.
I am the same way by the way

Also, I love the turn of the century homes. I used to live down south and yes, you can get alot of house for next to nothing but they are all so generic. My friend who lives in NC is buying a 500k home, 5000 sq feet and brand new. For 500 k here you can get a small condo.

I would love to buy a single family home in my neighborhood but the once I have looked at 2000-4000 sq feet homes sells for 1 million dollars at least.
There is this one home for sale, I don't remember the address, but it is located in Andersonville is absolutely gorgeous. Its almost 6000 sq feet, turn of the century, has a 2 car garage and it is listed for 1.5 millions.

But here is a "smaller home" and it looks a little newer, 3 bedroom for a pretty good price. It is cute too, I think.

And houses in Chicago are distinctive and interesting, not that bland cookie-cutter type you like, IMO.

Most of the old stuff is distinctive and interesting. Most of the new stuff is just as bad as the stuff you find in the suburbs, especially all the 3 side split block **** holes. You can find plenty of nice new homes in both but the majority is garbage. I'm talking SFH's before anyone jumps on me.

Im sorry but anyone who prefrrs the cookie cutter style really has no taste.

so essentially the OP prefers houses like that are in Phoenix than what you see in a place like Boston in regards to design?! I get there are opinions but come on. This like saying you find Mercury to be a more beautiful planet than Earth.

I agree and never said otherwise. There are plenty of non-cookie cutter homes built in the suburbs though.
