Road Trip (?) from Atlanta to Chicago - Attractions suggestions along the way
Okay, not a roda trip per se, but I will be moving to Chicago from Atlanta.
I will use the moving company for most of my stuff, but put some of valuables in my car and will drive it up there when I move. (yeah, I decided to keep my car)
Anyway... my mom decided to join me to this trip of 700+ miles and I know we should make a few stops along the way for the overnight stay, breaks etc.
Any suggestions as to places worthy of stopping along the way? It would be nice to use this opportunity for some sightseeing and such.
Thanks!

Drive it alot. In Tennessee you have Lookout Mountain, Ruby Falls. In Kentucky you have Corvette Museum, Lincolns Home (no he was not from Illinois despite what they would have you think) and Col Sanders Museum of High Colesterol. In Indiana you have a really nice dairy farm where you can but really great ice cream and see a working dairy from start to end. Although I drove by this place 100 times without paying it any attention and finally stopped because my lil girl wanted to see it, I found it to be interesting and worth the stop. Problem is I have forgot the name and exit number but there are signs that say _____ FARMS before you get there.

Nashville if you like country music- the Hall of Fame. If country ain't your thing keep driving.

Plan on driving in 2 days stop over between Lexington and Louisville it's half way--great horse country stay at a B&B or horse farm or one of the many hotels along the way.

Hit up Gatlinburg, TN, maybe swing by Nashville and check out the Opry Mills Hotel and mall, check out the Garden of the Gods in southern Illinois, maybe Starved Rock or Matthiessen ( <--- more recommended) State Park in mid-state IL.

Thank you all for the suggestions and I will be sure to look into them when planning for the trip.
No, I have not found a place yet.... busy wrapping up all the projects at current job before leaving. But I will be soon starting some serious apt/condo hunting!
Thanks again everyone!
