Default Opinon on car insurance

Currently have Progressive insurance and I'm very happy with them in Arizona. I had Geico in California but when I moved to Az. the rate was really high so I switched to Progressive.

There are so many factors to consider that asking anyone other than an insurance agent isn't going to be terribly productive. I personally have Progressive and I've had no issues with them. I will never use GEICO again after they dumped me just for asking them a question about the usage of my car. (Fortunately, I was able to ding them for a $3,000 claim 5 days before the cancellation was effective.) I don't care if they'd cut my premium in half. Never again.

I have State Farm with $1,000,000 worth of coverage and full coverage in general with $500 deductible and my payments on a Lexus RX 300 AWD is $430 every 6 months. Not too bad considering I live in Cook County. I also have my house insured through them, so I get what they call the multi-line discount. If you insure your apt/condo/house and car along with it, you will qualify for the multi line discount with them, and if you have two cars then you also will get the multi car discount as well and save even more $$$. I dont know, but it seems that their rates are very reasonable for the coverage they provide. I have never had any problems with filing claims with them and my rates so far... knock on wood, have never went up. In fact they keep going down. Anyways, I like State Farm and apparently many others do too as they are the largest insurance co in IL.

I would check out State Farm like NYrules suggested. Also check out Ameriprise/IDS. They are the spinoff of American Express. I have full coverage insurance on a 2002 Infiniti for $450 every six months. This is $300,000/$100,000 coverage, $500 deductible for collision and $100 for comprehensive as well as rental car and roadside assistance. I live in the city of Chicago. I had Geico, but they were at least $500 more per year.

I use State Farm, the cheapest and best insurance Ive had yet (had Geico, AllState & Country Companies before). Geico is a HUGE ripoff, stay away from them.

Thanks everyone! This is exactly what I need. I dumped Geico when I moved to Arizona because they raised it to something ridiculous. I wanted State Farm but I needed 24 hr. assistance because it's hard for me to make phone calls during the day with a two year old running around. but I think I'm going to look up state farm again. I think my parents has state farm.

Anyway, this brings me to another question. We just registered both of our cars in Arizona. When I get car insurance in Il. , how long do I get till I have to register my car in Il.? In the passed I waited till our registration expired then renew in the new state.

I could be wrong, but when you officially move to the state I think you should register your vehicle within 30 days? I don't think this has anything to do with the insurance, but just a state vehicle registration requirement.
