Hi,

I´ll soon move with my bf to Chicago. I´m looking for a shared apartment/loft - we like the idea to have some private space (2 rooms) for us, but would like to share general facilities e.g. kitchen, living room, etc.

Does anyone know where I can start to look for such places? websites?

any help is greatly appreciated,

cheers, Janine

@ egoist0717: I´m moving with my partner and a dog - so I need 2 rooms for us, but as I said we´re looking for a shared loft/house etc to live together with other people. I think this a) the best way to get to know people and make friends (we´re both completely new to Chicago - moving in straight from Berlin) and b) this could be fun and for everyone a bit easier - we could help out each other, have dinner together, go out etc ...

if this sounds appealing to you as well and if you could think about renting a bigger apartment - let me know

@ windy city John,

well craigslist is def. a good site to start, but I´m more interested to find cooperative housings etc - just a bit more liberal

any suggestions?

thanks to both of you, Janine

Tell us what kind of area you would be willingly to or want to live in and how much money you can spend on housing.

I don't know if you could get two rooms, but there are some cooperative housing situations in chicago.

ok, the following areas were suggested to me: Andersenville, Bucktown and Wrigleyville

I cannot afford more than 1000 $ / month - therefore I don´t expect and want anything posh.

cheers, Janine

thanks a lot, Janine

Hi Janine, Try the Chicago Reader newspaper! It is FREE and it has a lot of shared living classified ads. They are also online so you can check things before you hit the windy city! Good luck to you!
