Default Commute from Chicago to Elk Grove Village

I am thinking about transferring with my company – they are located on Brummel Avenue in Elk Grove Village (near O’Hare). Can somebody pls advise on what options for housing would be within a 45 minute commute (on most days – barring snow storms, etc). I am 33 yr old single and had grown up in the NW burbs (Niles) and would like to live in the city. From talking to my friends my options would be Schaumburg (have always despised it, no offense); Oak Brook was suggested – don’t know anything about it besides recall a mall there; was told Oak Park might be an option and Edison Park. I was in Edison Park over Thanksgiving while visiting my family and didn’t see much going on although my friends told me that there is a large single scene there. Don’t want to live near Jefferson Park or Irving Park either. Are these my only realistic options? If so I prefer to stay where I am (at least with this company).

Of course I love Wicker Park/Ukraine Village/Bucktown but believe the commute would be too long? Thanks!

Wicker Park/Bucktown/Ukranian Village is an excellent option if you love 90-minute commutes each way. Bottom line is, you want it all but something is going to have to give.
