It depends on the line of work. For some people, it's completely fine. For others, not as much. Chicago's unemployment rate is pretty high, but it's a little more complicated than the number shows.

But who are the people who are not employed ? are they mostly uneducated/homeless ???
regarding educated people, are there many that are unemployed ?

I think a large percentage of the unemployed persons are uneducated. Obviously there's educated folk who are unemployed but I'm pretty certain that number is way lower.

So the problem is not with the economy rather with the uneducated people.

I wouldn't say that's 100% true. There is a problem with some uneducated folks, but some sectors do not have perfect economies in the area. I think you'll find this with any major metro area in the US though. There isn't one metro area where every single industry is just awesome, but there are metro areas that are more diverse than most. IMO those include NYC, Chicago, Los Angeles, Bay Area, and perhaps DC and Boston, and possibly increasingly Houston and Dallas.
