We are going on a 9 day vacation in May, leaving from O'Hare terminal 3. Right now I am debating between long term parking for the entire 9 day trip, or renting a car the night before our flight and then returning it that morning, but unfortunately we are on a bit of a time constraint, worst case scenario we will likely get to the airport (either rental return or parking lot) about an hour and a half before our flight, so I want the most efficient way of getting back to Terminal 3.

Renting is technically cheaper by $21, but that doesn't do us much good if we miss our flight.

Why don't you just take a cab or car service?

My husband works the night shift but will be allowed to leave as soon as he finishes his work for the night. This could be anywhere from 5AM to 7 AM, trying to figure out the timing for a cab or car service would be problematic to say the least, and also presents a problem with getting to his job. If we rent or drive ourselves, I can drop him off at work the night before and then get there and just wait for a couple hours if necessary.
