this thread is a celebration of flatness. We often give the oooooooooz and the ahhhhhhhhhhhh's for threads of cities with dramatically hilly setting.

what we don't often realize is that it is the flat cities that best develop and convey the urban experience in all its interconnectedness.

no city does flatness like Chicago, no city such a defined grid, and nowhere does neighborhood flow so seamlessly into neighborhood on to the core of the city the way that Chicago does.

I've always thought of Marina City as a double stack of dirty dishes. But, I agree, the Tribune Tower is magnificent and belongs on The Magnificent Mile of Chicago.

I'd like to see more neighborhood pictures. I've never been to Chicago although I've wanted to visit for some time, but all I've really seen are pictures of the Loop.
