I don't know where you live, DrEarth, but Rogers Park has major parking issues. And parking permits are required if you're gong to park there without a city sticker. And you'll need to purchase them for friends and family who may want to visit. And you cannot purchase parking permits without having a city sticker. And you cannot purchase either unless you show them your drivers license and proof of where you live with the original lease. Not a copy, not anything on your smartphone, the original lease.

So I guess the OP could get away with it, as well, but the city has a way of tracking cars and how long they've been parked in the area, and since his is going to be parked in a gated lot, it's going to be really easy to track, so the answer to his original question stands.

Now before posters start saying cops can't give tickets to cars in gated lots, read this thread on yelp which is only one source I found.

OK, just remember that three tickets get you a boot here.

When you think about it, you're using the city streets as a resident but not being financially supportive of them. At the very least that's freeloading.

Or to use a phrase someone in the yelp thread used, this is a case of the terminally entitled.

Min ticket for not having a city sticker is $200. Do you really want to chance that by not buying a $75 city sticker? Just get it done. Clearly it's bothering you since you took the time to post on a public forum about it.
