Take Chicago out of Illinois, and we would have helped Bob Dole beat Bill Clinton, yikes............
I just have to ask, why didnt his Highness Mayor Jr. see this coming when he beat Coleman in the election less than 18 months ago. Why didnt Peraica, Stroger, Daley Brother #2, et al......., see this coming.
What about our very camera friendly US Senators, why arent they in this mix.........
I absoloutely love it when the CTA, CPD, CFD complain about fuel costs, considering they buy their fuel bulk wholesale, with prorated prices, set at 2005 prices. I know how much The CTA pays per gallon, its less than forty two cents including taxes.
I almost forgot,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Secretery of State "I rose from the ashes of CHA and tumbled my way to the top" Jessee White where the hell are you in this matter considering your responsible for Illinois Transportation Matters
AL "Carpetbagger" Sharpton where are you, too bad there are no Tawana Bradley's here in Chicago, but then again our women are tougher than New York women, Hillary as an example, couldnt win here, so she ran in New York
I love the CTA, as a hobby.......I collect old transfers, passes, uniforms, seats, signs, entire benches including poles, windows, and their yearly calendars..........so I hate too see so much anger back and forth.
PS In US History everytime there is a public transit or airline strike, during the Holidays, the President gets involved, but I think that tradition is over, why help the third largest city in the US, tenth largest in the world, fortress maximus of the Democratic Party, with their transit problems............

I used to be an "L" person. Now I live near LSD and take the express bus most of the time, and I must say that I LOVE the surly bus drivers when they're the "right kind of surly". Here are examples of the "right kind of surly":
1. The bus driver involved in the incident with the knife as described above by ahava.
2. A bus driver who tells standing riders to move to the back of the bus during rush hour, or who plays the message telling people to do so multiple times. Nothing is worse than rookie riders who just stand there and don't let people on. It's the bus equivalent of the suburban or out-of-town riders on the "L" that crowd near the doors because they worry that they won't be able to get off.
3. Bus drivers that demand people pay for a ride. The CTA can't be giving money away, and is not a charity.
4. Bus drivers who honk their horn at the cabs on Michigan Avenue that are always picking up customers near bus stops and clogging up the whole works. Get the @#$%$# out of the way, man!
5. Bus drivers who yell at the jerks in the front of the bus who don't give up their seat for elderly, disabled, or pregnant riders.

I've been a steady CTA-user since I was 16 and have had mostly good experiences with drivers and other CTA employees. My only expectation is for the driver to get me from point A to point B safely and in a timely fashion. I don't expect him/her to get up and do a dance to entertain me. If he/she happens to be a cheerful person who greets every passenger, I think that's great, but not necessary.

I don't expect bus drivers to go out of their way to be nice, but I don't think they should go out of their way to be mean either. My mom said one wouldn't let her on the bus because her Chicago Card wasn't working. My mom refused to pay an extra $2 and had to get off. Her card worked on the next bus she got on.
I had one bus driver that stopped the bus and won't move until someone gave up their seat for me. I was carrying my daughter, her diaper bag and a stroller. Finally one lady got up because she was getting off at the next stop anyway. I actually think riders are ruder than the bus drivers.
One thing that used to bother me was the CTA workers standing around the Washington station (Red line). Each time I would walk past they would make disgusting sounds at me and stare. It wasn't like I was dressed a certain way (not like that is a good excuse)....I was going to or coming from work or school. Either they just happened to be on break every time I walked past or their job was to stand around and stare at women.
