Edgewater - Sheridan/granville area (Montrose: safe area, college, quality of life)

A little sketchy but not too bad. Daylight hours are fine, night time hours, use sensible precautions. A few blocks north of there and things start getting a little more interesting.

Anywhere on Sheridan Rd is safe 24/7. It is a very well travelled street and well lit. The streets that come off of it are safe in the day but at night you should be careful.

A lot more shabby than up by Granville. Quite a few seedy characters lurking around there. North of Lawrence is better than south.

This statement borders on irresponsible. There are occasionally armed robberies on Sheridan Road itself too, not just the side streets. Sheridan is indeed well-lit and well-traveled, but don't let those facts get you complacent. Common sense should always be in play.

The uptown one decently safe for single guy in his 30s? I mean its right by the college right there Ill be going to so would be nice to live close to it. Found a studio there for 540.

There's a reason that studio is $540.

When it comes right down to it, chances are you'll be fine there and nothing will happen to you. But there's higher odds of something happening to you there than up in Edgewater, not to mention there's a notable difference in the overall quality of life between the two areas. It's a matter of following your own priorities, and I want to help you set your priorities from a more informed position.

That is not a bad price, but you can go farther south, lets say like south of Montrose and you can find some at the same price, in a better area.

That area is not extremely bad, but it is far from pristine and the best.

If you are capable and street smart , you should be able to hack it if you desire to.
