I just called AT&T, they can only offer me 768kbps. For 29 dollars. What gives? Anyone else in 60638 zip code have this issue? I ended up ordering Comcast, but I hear horror stories! Any one have any insight to how comcast in the City is?

I've got a Max Turbo plan with AT&T that is 24mbps, runs me about $50 a month in 60640. What they can offer depends on what equipment they have in your area.

I pay $40/month for I think 6 mbps. 768kbps should be $19.95/month actually through AT&T DSL. And AT&T is not the only ISP in Chicago you know. There's many others.

Yeah, that's why I called Comcast. I took a look at RCN but I did not like the prices. So for one year it's 19.99 a month for 6MBPS on comcast. I bought my own modem. It's just been years since I had them. It's just a shame places like Tinley Park can hAve high speed, and those of us in certain parts of the city can not. ;-/

Most places in the city can have high speed internet. I don't know what you're talking about, honestly. You make it sound like Chicago has some big void of internet or something, which isn't true at all.

I'm not implying that it's void. On one ISP it clearly is in certain parts. Like I said I went with Comcast, that's high speed and will do. My original question was how are they? I know their CS was so so years ago.

I was responding to your question about the cost of everything, but yes you did ask how Comcast is too. Part of the problem with a suburb versus city is age of buildings, architecture, etc. It could be harder to wire a building that was built in 1896 for internet versus one from 1999.

I have RCN, which is only available in certain parts of the city. I pay about $95/month for 75 mbps down/ 15 mbps up, plus a static IP address. With taxes it's closer to $105/month. If I didn't have a static IP (most people don't need or want this) and dropped down to 50 mbps, I'd be paying closer to $60/month.

I have RCN and I'm currently paying $35 a month for 25mbps down. I'm not certain what my upload rate is though.

Yeah, I'm already regretting comcast. They missed the appointment window. I scheduled my work day around it. Ugh!
