I'm currently looking for an affordable, safe neighborhood for myself and my girlfriend to move. Budget is at 700/month. Anything less would be fantastic.. I work late some times. She gets off early. So my main priority is finding a place that is as safe as possible...any suggestions? Blue Line locations would be nice... anything close to O'hare airport would be ideal as well

$700 is going to be a tall order in any safe hood, impossible in a fun one. I'd recommend checking out McKinley Park. It's safe, affordable, and the Orange Line runs right through it.

Be forewarned though. It's not sexy, and there's little to do in the neighborhood itself, but it's near Bridgeport and Pilsen where there are things to do. And on your budget it may be the best option, unless you're willing to put safety aside and pioneer in a place like Bronzeville or the Near West Side west of Western.

Bridgeport and McKinley Park area even though it's not on the Blue Line but you can get to it via the Orange Line. $700/month along the blue line you'd be looking at a studio, or getting other roommates.

Not happening at 700 a month in Bridgeport or any other GOOD neighborhood unless you're looking at a studio or roommates. Your best move is probably Pilsen, maybe McKinley Park if you want some space.

Bridgeport is still cheap, though I think people have been finding this out and there's less stuff available now. Pretty sure prices are rising now, but you can still find cheap places there. You can find 2 bedrooms in Bridgeport for $900/month (3227 S Aberdeen St # 2F, Chicago, IL 60608 is For Rent - Zillow). Here's a 1 bedroom for $700/month in Bridgeport:

3233 S Morgan St # 2, Chicago, IL 60608 is For Rent - Zillow

I've been searching for months, and that's a first. Also, most cheap places are usually dumps. That is one alright for the price though. Forgot to add that note.

Kitchen is shared? Shared with who, another apartment? How does that even work?

Yeah, Zillow always has some. If you looked a few months ago, there were way more available at that price point. Another: 2833 S Short St # 2F, Chicago, IL 60608 is For Rent - Zillow

There's actually more units available at that price point in Bridgeport right now than McKinley Park. Sometimes they are dumps, it's true. You can find studios for around or under $700/month in Lakeview near Uptown too even.

My guess is that it's a 1 bedroom inside of a larger unit or something. My ex girlfriend got roped into that in Lakeview once. it said 1 bedroom and it turned out to be a bedroom in a 2 bedroom condo being rented out.

Bridgeport or the east park of McKinley Park is your best bet. Perhaps Pilsen. They are safe enough, there are safer, and less sketchier places, but they are affordable and have very low crime rates compared to most other parts of the city. It's also very affordable and diverse.
