I'm looking for a new apartment in the neighborhoods indicated in the forum title. Can anyone direct me to reputable/trustworthy/decent apartment buildings or management companies? It seems that almost every building or management company has horrible Yelp reviews (though I know one must take Yelp with a huge grain of salt) and it just seems tough to find out who I can trust.

Thanks for any advice you can give me!

Have you checked apartmentratings.com? I mean, some people really ***** on there but sometimes it's a nice site to get good info - much better than Yelp for this type of thing.

Edgewater has Andersonville which has great restaurants and shops. In my opinion although Licoln Sq is very nice-- its just too far from downtown and not close enough to the lake

P.S. drive/walk around and rent private, mgment companies for the most part are hard to deal with. Also private owners tend to keep the building in better shape

Many buildings are smaller and are owned by a private landlord and do not have management companies.

We were with Andco in Ravenswood, who we really liked. Fixed problems quickly, staff was kind, and they accommodated us when we had to move out of our place early because we had bought a house (we did have to pay a $500 fee to cancel the lease early, but they found a tenant for us - fee would have been maybe half that if we'd found our own tenant).

Try these people - I hope its ok to post a link to help you - if not, then its "first chicago apartment rentals".

Apartments: Ravenswood / Lincoln*Square / Bowmanville from $600.00 to $1,800.00 - 1st Chicago Apartment Rentals

I went and looked at their apartments a few years ago - I got the strong impression that they are family owned, take pride in their apartments, and they are reasonable and they give you a bunch of pix to look at the details of these apartments. I felt they were really good landlords, but i did not take them because of lack of parking and i need an elevator in my building. but otherwise, i would have picked them.

Thanks for all of your suggestions! I'd prefer to live in a building managed by a private landlord, so I'll keep on the lookout for those. Thanks also for the management company recommendations.

I found an apartment in the Reader. They usually post photos, as well, so it's really helpful! I lived near Lincoln Square for awhile and it's a great area! Good Luck!

OP, the number I PMed you is not for the landlord but he manage the building. He is very nice and easy to deal with. You should give him a call.
