If you just want pizza, then I recommend Lou Malnati's from the major ones. Chicago has much, much, much, much, much more than just pizza though but Lou Malnati's is my suggestion if you're going with it. Pequod's in Lincoln Park is also good - less touristy and perhaps more local.

Off topic, have you tried the owner's new restaurant/bar Masada?

Is malnati's a chain? I don't really want to do a chain. Also, should I get Italain beef or a chicago hot? I don't want to crap in my pants on the ride home. Any food alternatives.

It's a small local chain, but it's actually good. Trust me - I don't like chains and this is good. If you are against that then try out Pequod's in Lincoln Park. As far as Italian Beef versus a hot dog - I like Chicago Hot Dogs more, but Italian Beef can be good too.

And remember, Chicago is a hell of a lot more than hot dogs, pizza, and italian beef, but I understand wanting to try them if in town for just one day.

They also have like 3 bars and a dance floor in the place. They have live middle eastern music and/or middle eastern DJs. I know the owner's friend from Dubai flew in a few weekends ago to DJ. Stuff like that. I still need to check it out.

A chain, yes, but also only in Chicagoland.

That goes for all of the "big 3" local-only deep-dish chains that are really popular around Chicago:

Lou Malnatis
Giordano's
Gino's East

My personal favorite of the big three is Giordano's. The differences are many, but if people think they will have trouble with a really chunky tomato sauce I usually steer them away from Lou's and recommend Giordano's. Giordano's tends to go over better with "outsiders." But Lou's is probably the overall favorite around town and if you're a foodie, go ahead and do Lous. Or Pequods. Honestly, can't really go wrong the Gino's either if you find yourself in close proximity to one.

that's the problem. I'm only in the town for one day. I also really like pizza. Is there a particular location of Lou's I should go to? So my main mission will be pizza. Is there anything else i can eat before pizza? Also, anything for desert? When I get off the train or bus, what should i get for a small breakfast/lunch? Also, should I get Malnati Chicago Classic? I don't plan on getting any appetizers. Should I got for the medium?
