Chicago Deep Dish/Stuffed pizza is like heaven on earth... But only when it's done right.
I went to Aurellios and got their Stuffed pie after hearing people (who clearly didn't know any better) rave about it. Total crap. Southside style pan pizza.... God, yes. .

I say this at the risk of being hanged from the nearest street lamp, but I find Chicago hot dogs to be thoroughly gross.
Deep-dish/stuffed on the other hand... I hope I never have to live without it.
Hot Doug's is in a different league though. They have way more variations than just "Chicago style." Unfortunately I almost never get to go despite living in the general vicinity because there's always a line out the door and down the block.
Next time you're here, you'll have to try another Chicago greasy-spoon delicacy: the jibarito. Google it, and try one if you dare.

Weren't you the one who implored me to get a stuffed pizza from Pudgy's? I did so, and I'm sad to report it was not the religious experience for me that it apparently is for you. I'm gonna give their thin crust a go though, next time I feel like wandering all the freakin' way down there.

Just out of curiosity what do you not like about chicago dogs? I nearly pooed my pants out of excitement when I found a place near me with Vienna beef. I mean there are some sorry hot dogs out there..

I grew up on Aurelio's pizza, and never once had anything but their thin crust (which is great), hell I didn't even know they did the stuffed thing, it just never occurred to me, or my parents, to order it.

I just don't like the "Chicago-style" ingredient package. I don't like pickles, I don't like relish, and I don't like tomatoes. When it comes to hot dogs, I'm the simple ketchup/mustard type, though I'll take onions too.

I'm all about having it "dragged through the garden," the historical tie-in is nice too.
I'm surprised to hear anyone say they had a bad pie from Aurelio's, I love that place, especially the spinach Calabrese.

I like my hot dog pretty simple so I can taste the sausage. A little relish and mustard, sometimes tomatos.
Aurelios done right is great but the Aurelios by me on Harrison is inconsistent; sometimes very good and sometimes over or undercooked, once both over AND undercooked on the same pizza. We stopped getting pizzas there.

I think Aurelio's pizza has gotten worse over the years, I used to go to the one on 159th/Oak Park Ave in Tinley Park growing up and I thought it was great...Got Aurelio's a few weeks back when I was in town, and was very disappointed...Not enough cheese and their sauce is too sweet for my liking
Best thin crust pizza imo is Beggars, there is one in Oak Forest and one in Mokena (might be one in Blue Island as well)
