I know both families who have stayed or moved to Chicago and families that have moved away. The point is, Chicago is not losing upper income families, it's gaining them.

Perhaps, but since the years in discussion are 2007 and 2012 we are talking about estimates instead of real data. And by U.S. Census definition, a "family" includes "a householder and one or more other people related to the householder by birth, marriage, or adoption", so childless married couples are included in that statistic. What would these numbers look like if families with school-aged kids were isolated?

Yet those trends are seemingly being overshadowed by more powerful factors, as other parts of the city and close-in suburbs send even larger numbers of prosperous, college-educated people to DuPage County and beyond."

Regardless, as the advancement of technology marches on more and more workers, especially those in the tech sector, will undoubtedly have the ability to work remotely. My prediction is brick and mortar corporate office space will eventually go the way of brick and mortar retail and the dodo bird.
Well all indications are more and more wealthy families and individuals are living in Chicago. My responses are directed at this statement which has been proven false. Highly educated and high earning people are a growing demographic in Chicago.

Yep, pretty hard to deny that. Even without the data, signs of this are everywhere in the city.
