I'm no putz either. I tell the truth... whether I'm a hopelessly addicted crossdresser or whether it's always the white guys who get the employment breaks and become CEOs - It's all a MATTER OF FACT TRUTH. I AIN'T NO PUTZ LIAR! My statement on the breaks white guys get is based on my employment experiences dating back to 1993 ... so I ain't no putz liar making up stuff about white guys... stuff you don't like to hear!
But maybe it's because you're white people and you don't like to hear the truth that white guys get the breaks and mostly 98% of CEOs are white guys...

None of that has one bit to do with the fact that... let's face it... you're kind of a putz. If your posts on this forum are even a faint reflection of how you are to work with, your misfortune doesn't surprise me in the least.
However, this isn't a thread about you or about racism in the workplace. This is a thread about whether or not Chicago is gay-friendly. Which it is. Probably the most gay-friendly spot in the Midwest, with, I'd suspect, one of the top ten largest gay communities in the US.

Well, what exactly is a putz?
All of my past coworkers [except the instigators] and my HS buddies like me very well, have no problems with me, and think I'm a NICE guy. My HS buddies just laugh at my crossdressing...

Yes chicago is gay friendly, the northside more than the southside, the city way way more than the suburbs. Boystown neighborhood more than anywhere else.
Theres a lot of black CEOs.

I only know of two Asian CEOs; Andrea Jung of Avon and that guy on Yahoo... So not many Asian CEOs. That Asian CEO of Yahoo is a CEO because he partly started that company.

I'm gonna have to go with you on this one. I'm gay and have NEVER had a problem with anyone in this city, let alone coworkers/bosses.
I know a boat load of gay people in this city who work downtown in the loop, and many of them are VERY gay acting to the point I just have to roll my eyes sometimes and chuckle at them.
Never once have any of them ever run into any problems or had anything said to them - something that actually kinda shocks me.
I'm guessing this is *much* more a personal issue you might be having than just "chicago is very unwelcoming to gays"

Jesse, I'm not sure what your problem is, but it is not being perceived as homosexual. I have some friends that have some very high up positions in their companies (CPG and banking), and even though they are the only "out employees" there, they are treated fairly. I have more then a few friends that work for the city of Chicago in high-ranking positions that are openly gay and are treated as equals.
In addition, the company that I used to work for had a LGBT group for the Chicago office, and it had over 180 members in it.
The problem, is not with Chicago being homophobic, it must have something to do with your work performance. I just wanted to speak up on behalf of the thousands of LGBT employees that are able to maintain long-term work positions without being discriminated against.

Right, no one at work actually knows I'm gay, but people do know that the VP of our Department is gay - and he manages almost 100 people. He's very hard to work with sometimes, but I've never even heard anyone out drinking or just chatting with me even bring up the fact that he's gay. They're all straight males. They apparently just couldn't care less.
