First you ABSOLUTELY have to get insurance NOW and then bring proof of insurance to the judge or the court will revoke you license, that is a certainty.

If your "improper lane usage" was due to just inattention (like fumbling with fast food or something silly) you can probably expect "court supervision" and just fines / court fees that are probably about $120. If the officer suspected you were under the influence of some substance but you passed a field sobriety test the prosecutor may ask for some kind of community service like picking up trash along roadways...

If you had insurance and no proof at the time you can present it at the trial and have that charge dismissed. The other charge I'd plead guilty and ask for supervision. You pay the fine and if you don't get any further citations for 6 months the charge is dropped.

If you did not have insurance at the time of the ticket you are in bigger trouble.

Show up showing that you have since acquired insurance and the judge might be nice enough to drop the other charges and retired your license if they took it without paying a fine. On the other hand he Orr she might require you to purchase an sr-22 if this isn't your first offense.

Thank you chet everett. but the ticket just said i failed to keep in my lane which i dont think i did. court supervision? and no the official did not think i was under the influence he also told me that the "lane" infraction would get tossed out and i would only face charges on no insurance.

If in fact you did not have insurance at the time of the stop, not just not having the card on you, then expect a $500+ fine plus court costs.

to avoid any further confusion, this is my first offense ever and my insurance was expired and i received the ticket for failing to keep in lane. i was not drinking and he did not think that either otherwise he would have administered an the breathalyzer test. he even said the 'lane' charge would be thrown out and i would just face the no insurance charge.

So, you have insurance and it was expired? OK, that's good because I was about to read you the riot act for not having insurance.

Please help me understand... if you have "expired" insurance, you have no coverage, and therefore, no insurance, correct?
