So I am relocating from Philadelphia to Chicago and I really want to keep teaching, but it looks like I would need to take 5 tests and spend $800 on testing, is this correct? I've read that PA and IL have reciprocity, so what does that get me? It's almost like I have to start all over again.

Could any teachers out there help?

Thanks

Even if you can get a license, good luck finding a teaching job.

You should probably have a conversation with a frequent Chicagoland poster named "chet everett", an ex-Chicago public/private school teacher..

I have my Master's degree in Secondary Education and am certified in Florida, but I had to take a few tests (TAP, specific content-area test, and APT) and spend a fair amount of money to certify here . I love Chicago, but every interaction with the city is designed to vacuum as much money from you as possible.
