Yes, it's the whole metro area. Let me see what I can get by the sub market.

I don't have time to look at a bunch of submarkets, but Lincoln Park's average rent in the second quarter was $1350 with a 1.5% vacancy rate.

I've never met a girl or woman named "Trixie". And Chad isn't so common any more either. I think we need to update that reference. How about Connor and Caitlyn?

Haha, totally.

I was laughing at the person that said $1700 wasn't even avg rent in NYC and SF.

Don't believe everything you read on the internet.

The Census compiles median rents by metro area, and no metro area in the U.S. has even half that rent claimed on your link.

That would be me, the source is the U.S. Census Bureau, and no, it isn't average rent, so laugh away...

FY 2013 Fair Market Rent Documentation System -- Calculation for Oakland-Fremont, CA HUD Metro FMR Area
I'll continue to keep laughing. You have your site, the other poster has theirs that noted average is approx $3400.

Your source also lists the entire Oakland area, whereas the other is San Fran city only. Now, I'm not familiar with that area, but I would assume that's like comparing avg Chicago city rents vs. the entire Chicagoland area (which would include Joliet, and other far out burbs) which would drastically pull avg down.

That being said, go to SF and try getting an apt for $1700 on avg. Good luck.

I think it might be time for new terms, because I honestly have never heard the terms Chad and Trixie used outside of this forum. Granted, I'm not originally from Chicago, but I have plenty of friends who are from the city and the suburbs, and they never use those terms either.

Bros? Yes. Yuppies? Yes. Hipsters? Sure. Chads and Trixies? Never.

Even if you hacked off Uptown and Rogers Park, there would still be Edgewater.
