"Amazing homes" that all look like carbon-copies of one another. The only truly amazing homes I saw were up in North Scottsdale/Carefree/Paradise Valley. The rest of the valley was comprised of cookie-cutter Taco Bell-wannabe homes. You know, those pseudo-adobe fugly things that are 5 ft. apart from one another. There was some Mediterranean designs all over the place, but the overall designs of them were putrid, nothing like the beauties you see in CA.

You know what I find funny? Coming from California, everyone gets so excited to tell me that I'm going to die from the cold in the winter, etc. So far, I feel fine bundling up and walking in 5 degrees, whereas I hear more Chicagoans complaining that it's too cold to go outside. Now, I understand that it's going to get colder, but I don't think it's really that bad if you're wearing the right clothes.

Well said. But this morning was absolutely frigid, doesnt get much colder than 0 with -20 degree windchills like it was in Warrenville. But like you said, dress for it and youll be fine. The tradeoff? Crazy Chicago weather that can bring you 0 degrees one day, 55 the next (like its supposed to be this weekend). Enjoy the fact that there is never too much of one thing here, weather-wise.

I guess it depends how often you have to be outside and how much wind is involved. The wind can really kill at times. When you are getting like -30,-40,windchill you will see. We need two feet of snow just for you! lol jk
I think people just get tired of it year after year. If I moved to Arizona and people told me "damn it gets hot and dry here", Id probably be cool with it for a year or two. Then I would want to go home.

Dude I remember more than a couple -20 without the windchill in the city. I remember more than a few with the windchill of -50 to -75!
Here is the coldest wind chill:
Dec.24th 1983 the low temperature was 25 degrees below zero-the third all-time coldest temperature ever recorded for the city. Winds that morning ranged from 29 to 41mph creating wind chills as cold as 82 degrees below zero! The lowest wind chill in Chicago’s history.

1999 last year we had huge amounts of snow over the winter. I especially liked the storm in mid-March,I think it was St.Patricks day!

I agree if you dress for it ,you will be fine.It also depends on how much time you spend outdoors.I am a residential garbageman.I rather work in 0 degree than 70 degree weather sounds weird but true.I use to be the type that wouldn't go outside if it fall below 30 degrees.

Agreed. I'm a building inspector, and even though I don't spend as much time outside, I'm out of the car more than not. I, too, enjoy working more when it's cold/cooler than when it's 75 and humid at the end of May, etc.
I will say that when you're on the roof of a hi-rise building, and the wind's coming in strong off the lake at the end of January, that it is *damn* cold, lol. Stupid wind, haha.
