Chicago's thin crust is still pretty different from New York's though- aside from being thin of course.

Yeah, maybe I'm wrong here, but I always thought New York thin is where you're able to fold the big slice in half and eat it as the grease runs down your chin. Chicago thin seems to be a bit of a crispier crust. Or am I way off?

Yes, and Chicago thin is usually cut in squares instead of triangles.

Some NY thin crust is like that, but the truly high-quality stuff isn't. The best pizza has fresh ingredients (especially fresh mozzarella), and while it may be greasy, too, it doesn't necessarily have to be. In fact, I'd say most of the best places in NY aren't particularly greasy. The slices, too, while often larger than those in Chicago, are not so huge that you always need to fold them.

Just what I was looking for on this thread. You are making me hungry for Vito & Nick's Pizza.
When we lived in the city we went to this location. After we moved to Bridgeview a son opened Vito & Nick's II in Hickory Hills. While not quite the same as the original it was close enough for us. II has online ordering and I'm about to cave in and pay $20/pie to get some.

There is a place called Bacci (mutiple locations) that has the huge N.Y. Style foldable triangle. I think is pretty decent. Try it and let me know what you think of it.

I keep trying to get amy_cate's impression of Bacci too since she seemed desperate to find something approximating NY-style pizza here, but I never heard back from her. And she seems to have mostly disappeared altogether....

La Gondola in Lakeview. When I moved out of the city, it was the one thing I missed the most.
