Cold and windy, that is a bad environment to walk a tightrope, hopefully the weather improves for him. I'll talk to the family to see what kind of interest there is...festivities start at 6PM, I bet he walks the first rope at 7PM.

He's obviously a marvelous talent and I respect his ability. However, not to sound judgy, but this is stupid. He'd be better off putting that talent to something creative and safer, like Cirque du Soleil, where you can use such talent but have safety measures in place in case something goes wrong, which it does from time to time.

People are only watching it to see if he'll fall. I have no intention of participating in this as a viewer.

True, but if he did the Cirque, he would have to be part of a group and share the glory, which would take all the fun out of it for him. These daredevil types are narcissists. (I obviously don't care about sounding judgy. If it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck.....)

"Wallenda plans to climb from one of the Marina City towers, across the Chicago River, to the Leo Burnett building. Then he will walk between the Marina Towers, blindfolded."

How does he get from LB *back* to the MT's? Taxi cab?

Is this big news? I saw it on a website but thought maybe it was a fluff piece or something. Then I was watching football yesterday and saw an ad for the discovery channel that they're actually putting it on TV?

I really know nothing about it, I haven't heard anyone else mention it at work or any of my friends.

I'm usually not one to shy away from this stuff, but it makes me nervous. Not going to watch (I actually saw footage of his grandfather or great grandfather falling to his death doing a tight rope walk in San Juan in 1978 on YouTube. Sucks). But yes, it's a big thing - Discovery Channel is definitely airing it. Not only is he going to do the second half blind folded, but I think the first leg of the trip is to be done at a 15% incline..

I guess if he falls for some reason, he may have a very, very, very small chance of living if he hits the water (versus pavement I mean) but highly unlikely still. Let's hope it doesn't happen and he pulls this off.

If he falls off the wire, what will he do to keep from falling? will he grab on with his hands?
