Not a fun place to buy but maybe better as renting but know that most condos in the Hancock have very dated interiors (green kitchens, no granite, old school carpeting, etc..)

My daughter and I also looked at a number of them last spring; thanks for reminding me about the layouts. Two of them were very weird, and one had this "corridor" along the windows which separated the view from the rest of the apartment. I agree the rental apartments were all looking either white walls/rental tile or somewhat dated. We were looking to rent. One was okay, and I figured with art on the walls and area rugs over the white carpet, it would be more than fine. The views, of course, are astounding depending on the floor and the direction. I feel NE is the best, or straight N. NW okay too. You get the green from Lincoln Pk or the lake that way along with the buildings. As far as the swaying, I have lived on the 40th & 41st floors of other bldgs, and enjoy the wind noises. Where we are now (40th floor), when it's windy, the doors on the medicine cabinets swing open, and the building pops and creaks. Not a problem for us, but people should know this. The NUMBER ONE thing I was unsure about with the Hancock was the large number of "second home" apartments....empty most of the time. This can make a building feel cold and empty if the ratio is too high; a few empty ones provide more quiet and privacy in a high rise. I also noticed (maybe) a higher ratio of retirees than I'd be comfortable with....
Definitely, though...the layout "drawings" wouldn't be enough; you'd have to look at each unit. Can't beat the location, though. I know a couple of people who have lived there for years and tell me the bldg has been in transition, but they are putting in new corridor carpeting (needed) and reopened the commissary, which I understand is great.
