Looking for an internship in CHI-Town!
Hey guys,
I'm looking for an internship in Chicago from September 2008 for 6 months. I'm not desperately looking for something paid, it's even more important that it's located in the field of marketing.
I am a 24-years old student of Business Administration in Germany, so I am a native german speaker with almost fluent english skills. I don't have a visa, so I will have to apply for one here. Getting a visa is definitely not a problem and I will pay for all the costs.
I hope somebody can help me a little!

Sorry I won't be much of a help (browse this forum to check out places for myself), but wanted to comment that you could have left out the part about you being German and would have never known with how good your English skills are. Best of luck in Chicago.

Hey Jessie,
this forum is not my only source. I'm already looking on Craigslist but unfortunately most of them seem to be uninterested because of the visa process - which is not that difficult.
I will go for finding companies now. Wish me luck!

I did the same thing last summer. I found my internship on Craigslist. Type in "summer internship" in the jobs section.

Umm...you should probably go online and send your resume out to companies and look on craigslist.org just like everyone else has to. =)

Are you looking specifically for marketing, or would you also be interested in advertising and/or public relations? Many advertising and PR firms also do market research, so you may want to expand your search.
Your best bet is to make a comprehensive list of companies...some good sources for research are the AAAA--American Association of Advertising Agencies,
American Association of Advertising Agencies , the PRSA--Public Relations Society of America,
Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) , and the Chicago chapter of the American Marketing Association (biggest chapter in the country),
Chicago AMA - The Home For Marketing Professionals . All of those websites will have some type of search feature, and will list every company they have info for.
From there, check out the companies' individual websites, and look in the careers/employment sections for internship opportunities. Many of Chicago's firms have February & March deadlines for summer internships, so hurry
!
