I'm considering moving within the city limits (currently in the burbs) within the next few years. I will only be looking for a small house with a fenced yard; no apartments.

Chicago tends to be a pretty dog friendly city from what I can tell, but I'm not sure if that carries over to the attitudes of landlords.

I have 4 dogs, 3 of which are small (one is 10 lb, one 15, and one 21) and one who will be 35 - 50 lb full grown.

The 21 lb one and the pup who will end up fairly large are both in training classes. Currently just regular classes, but I'll have them both complete Canine Good Citizen courses when they're ready.

So, should I completely give up the idea of getting a rental or is it possible?

I have been a landlord and while I like dogs, I'd say HELL no.

Disagree, I have been a landlord and no matter how much cash you have, it's not going to buy me a new house. NO to four dogs.

I used to rent in Uptown where a neighbor had 4 dogs. They exist.

My friend rents in Rogers Park--the large building on the SW corner of Sheridan/Greenleaf. She runs a dog sitting business out of her home and has multiple dogs in her home at any given time.

Living in Uptown, you probably need 4 dogs just for protection!

Default Try other way around

Its better the dogs get a kennnel and you move-in with them. Just joking.

On a serious note - What are you doing with 4 dogs? Why do you americans need so many pets and spend billions on cats and dogs. Instead get married and have babies. Else Chinese and Indians will overtake you or Muslims will takeover america and convert it into a desert.
