Why wouldn't you be alive? Medical issues? I don't think anyone here can answer that question. I moved here 14 years ago living in the city and everyone I've ever worked with or been friends with is still alive after that timeframe except one woman who died of cancer and another who died of heart disease.

Do you plan to sell drugs or join a street gang? Do you plan to associate with drug dealers or street gang members? Do you plan to loiter in areas of high crime (i.e. not downtown Chicago)?

No. But it could happen on the streets, couldn't it?

Sure it could. Anything is possible. But how likely is it? Probably less likely than wherever you live right now.

I've been shot and stabbed each time I've visited Chicago.
It happens quite a bit; to hundreds of people each day. The worst parts of town are "The Loop" and "Lincoln Park." If you avoid these areas you can usually make it through the day with just a few indian burns and noogies.

Please note that threads re: Chicago crime statistics are no longer permitted. The topic has been discussed to death previously. This is addressed in the sticky thread.
