Later this year me and my family will be moving from western lincoln park (closer to Ashland) to a more affordable and diverse neighborhood. So far these have been the main three we are considering given their housing costs and accessibility to the rest of the city and loop. Specifically around kimball or kedzie (Albany park), Morse between Jarvis east of Clark (preferably morse in rogers park) and in bridgeport it's still a toss up because we are not very familiar with the area. The cheapest housing has been just west of halsted around lituanica closer toward 31st street. How is that pocket because I've heard varying opinions? I know that each has their benefits and draw backs but what would you deem most "safe" especially for a high school age younger sister who will be commuting to school everyday. I just want to specify that by safety I mean actual acts of crime rather than people just outwardly appearing a certain way. Your feedback is greatly appreciated

There has been multiple crime incidents on Morse between Clark and Sheridan recently. I'm too lazy to Google them right now (and not awake enough) but if you look on DNA Info, I'm sure they are there. Do what you want with the data.

I live in Rogers Park and enjoy it for the most part.

I'm familiar with all 3 neighborhoods and essentially lived in or by all 3.

31st/Halsted you got Whites, Mexicans, and Chinese.

Lawrence/Kimball you got Mexicans and Koreans.

Morse by Clark is probably the worst and farthest away.

That Bridgeport location is probably the worst strip in Bridgeport.

I live in Albany Park and it's fine, but there's some minor gang activity around during the night.

Back in 2009 I had the opportunity to rent a 2 BR apt for $550 right on this corner. I got a bad vibe and walked over to the police station to talk to some officers and get their take on it. They pretty much told me to stay away unless I knowingly wanted trouble or really had no money.

I ended up renting a place on 31st and Canal for about $50/mo more and it was a much better choice.

So, nothing actually happened at 32nd and Halsted?

Canal is only 3 blocks east of Halsted. Puleez.

A week later, one of the cops moved into the 2 BR apt for $550.

You should know that 3 blocks can make a difference. And that whole east of halsted versus west being better was real, at least 6 years ago.
