Anyone know why there is no building at the NW corner of Franklin and Washington downtown? Is there something wrong with that site? Seems it would be prime development space.

That's the site of the old Chicago Mercantile Exchange Building, which was demolished in 2003. The building below, designed by Krueck+Sexton, was approved and should be built there in the foreseeable future.

That's interesting. Was there something wrong with the old Mercantile Exchange building that it had to be torn down? I'm surprised that it wouldn't be considered historic?

What do you guys think of all these all-glass skyscraper buildings that are going up? Ugly, attractive, etc?

I'm a big fan of modern architecture. The ones being put up aren't out there, but most of them look at least decent or nice (with a few exceptions). I think the skyline looks decidedly different than something like NYC as a result and IMO it's better in overall beauty.
