I think aragx was saying that gangs and other criminals have forced people out of neighborhoods as well. If aragx wasn't saying that, I am.

... and I'm saying that too. I know more than one person who was forced out of a neighborhood due to gangs and violence ... I had a good family friend grow up in Roseland, gangs and violence drove him away (he moved to Beverly), I also had a good friend from Riverdale (the south-suburb) growing up, he got sick of the skyrocketing crime and moved too. Rising property values are not the only reason why one can feel 'forced' from their neighborhood.

I'm no fan of 'yuppies' either, but yuppies didn't shoot the kid in the back on my street, yuppies didn't stab the guy in my courtyard 15 years ago, yuppies didn't beat my friend with a lead pipe, mug my father, threaten to shoot my brother, and smash in all my car windows, etc. I'll take my chances with them over gangbangers any day.

By Chicago neighborhood standards, you're probably a yuppie. 87vert...whatever is also probably a yuppie if he has access to the internet on a regular basis. When neighborhoods are gentrifying, I've realized that the term "yuppie" means anyone who makes more money than the people doing the complaining. In Pilsen they're complaining about Mexicans who have moved up in the world and are now buying condos with their good jobs and increased education levels. To the class warfare idiots, I say get a clue! Is the horrible institution of the ghetto really worth saving? You're only clinging to it because you don't know anything else.

There are good gangbangers? Is not that a form of an oxymoron? A bad gangbanger is a moron and a good banger might actually be a bigger moron.
