Hello, I am going to attend the naturalization oath ceremony next month. I want to take my 4 years old with me. Does anybody know if kids are allowed?
TIA!

Naturalization ceremonies are public ceremonies so children are allowed. However I wouldn't recommend them sitting with you as the applicants are seated away from friends and family. It's similar to a graduation. Do you have someone coming with you who can watch the child? Is it at a court or a USCIS office? If it's at a USCIS office it's probably more relaxed but in the federal courts they are far more strict about children. In many federal courts, if the child starts fussing or crying you and the child will be escorted out. Just keep in mind that the ceremony is about you taking the oath of allegiance to the US. If you are busy tending to the child and not taking the oath, and an officer sees that, you could be pulled from the ceremony and that could delay your naturalization.

Thanks a lot for your reply! It is USCIS office in downtown Chicago. My husband will be out of town on that day and we moved here 4 months ago. It's kind of hard for me to get a reliable babysitter now. I will see if I can find some other options. Thanks again!
