Hi. It's the old old story, I've got uhh stuff I need to sell so I can save up a down payment for a house I can't afford the taxes on. Or maybe a one-way ticket to somewhere, I haven't decided yet.

So I need someone who does ebay consignment (at a reasonable percentage, please) or Amazon.

Some one posted that "...ebay does that for you..".. well I haven't found that to be the case. Darnit.

Thanks! Feel free to send me an email via the (really great) system here on city-data.

(much better than NEXTDOOR.COM...)

Cheers, have a good week.

Why don't you sell on the Facebook "garage sale" pages? You don't have to pay any fees there.........

Ebay and Amazon charges a lot of fees, for some items it's better just list on Craigs list other wise give it away because the fees are gonna rob you.

So the thread starter, is asking other people to pay his fees?

What's the reason he can't do it himself?

There are sell you stuff type places everywhere that will deal with listing and shipping your stuff. From what I understand they charge in the neighborhood 15% of the selling price.

I want to say Ebay fees are about 15%. Amazon might be more. Some items sell better on different venues.

It has nothing to do with who pays the fees. I have been an occasional eBay seller for years, I'm well aware of their umm wonderful fee structure. I thought it was a very clear request, but perhaps not, so I'll add a bit of explanation.

My time is spent taking care of my disabled significant other's medical, legal and housing issues, and has been for the last five years. Believe it or not, it's really tough to get insurance companies to pay for needed services and even harder to get lawyers off their butts and working on settlements, they seem to have no concept of time. Perhaps you've experienced similar circumstances. If you know a good PI lawyer who works on contingency, or, better, pro bono, let me know, ours seems to be out-to-lunch.

So I've very little energy or time left to actually photograph, write copy up for and post items on eBay, or Amazon, or Craigslist or wherever. Or work on my own apartment, even.

What I'm looking for.. and what many of you may also need.. is a local person who loves "doing eBay" and will take items on consignment. Period. My idea is to use whatever income that generates to build up a down payment on a house (but not here, Chicago's far too expensive). I've got a plethora of stuff that should do well on eBay (don't we all?), I just don't have the energy to do it myself, except very sporadically; for example,I have a goodly chunk of women's clothing that needs eBaying, but it's a daunting task, hence the request for leads.

Thanks, hope that clears things up.

I have not used this company but am considering it - so this is not a recommendation, just a suggestion.
Susie's Estates - ebay

Susie's Estates? Hmm, ok, thanks, Gemini. BTW I'm a Taurus-Gemini.
Which explains why I'm a bull-headed schizophrenic....
