Chinatown is in Chinatown. Its on the south side. Please don't make assumptions about the south side before you visit there.

Yeah from what people are saying here, Southside is bad. What part of Southside is Chinatown exactly in like streetwise and its surrounding streets? Might look for apartments in Chinatown.

Take your pick: South Loop or north Bridgeport.

Chinatown isn't so bad, though I did see someone try to stab a cop there the first time I visited a few years back (for real). There are some projects to the east, but much of the area around there has really gentrified recently.

It's near Cermak and Wells. Type "Chinatown Chicago" into Google Earth and it should pull it up for you.

Chinatown isn't bad, the Southside gets a bad rap.

Totally unfounded at this point.

Daley cleaned that whole area up down there now. The smart ones would buy some investment property in that area if they have the funds. This area is a gold mine waiting to be mined.

That's pretty funny. How about West South Loop?

People have been calling my neighborhood "North Wrigleyville" or "North Lakeview" for years, even though I'm in Uptown. And I knew some friends who lived in the "West Bucktown Lofts" in Logan Square a few years ago...

Officially, Chinatown is in the northern sections of Bridgeport and Armour Square. Approximate street dimensions of Chinatown run from 18th Street to the north, 31st Street to the south, Wentworth Avenue to the east and Canal Street to the west. When you get south of about 26th Street, there's a pretty rapid fade from Chinese to Irish/Italian with some blending between 26th and 31st. The core of Chinatown's business district is the intersection of Wentworth and Cermak.
