I am new to the city, and will be working in Homewood. Some people have advised me to get a place in Tinley Park, Orland, or Frankfort, while others tell me to move downtown... ie..Gold Coast...Lincoln Park....South Loop. I'm a single 29 year old male. Can anyone help me with regards to commute times?, crime levels?......I guess I'm just looking for general opinions on the pro's and cons.....
Thanks |

If you're interested in city living vs suburban areas, then you can search those neighborhoods. Any northside neighborhoods could give you a fairly long commute, so keep that in mind.

It really depends if you like city living enough to deal with the longer commute. Some people (myself not included) like the suburbs and would be quite happy there. It's certainly a family-friendly area of the metro, but it won't provide a terribly exciting cultural and nightlife experience.
