I don't even blame them for being stinky, but if you've ever been in a car that completely empties out because of one of them you know what I mean. I've never seen so many people covering their noes, switching cars while the train is moving, laughing/crying because it's so bad etc.

A couple of weeks ago I had to go to O'Hare early Sunday morning, one of those days when it was -25 out, to drop off the ladyfriend. On the return trip, I tried to find a car that wasn't filled with bums, due to the smell factor. After passing about 5 cars all filled with them, I gave up and just took a seat.
I don't blame them either for the circumstances, especially when it's that cold. But the smell in that train was repulsive. When I got home, I was on the trib website a few hours later, and read that a homeless person was found dead on a blue line train from O'Hare that morning. So I'm left to wonder, was I that lucky person, sharing the same traincar as a dead man?

I hate it when people urinate in the front of the car on the other side of the glass where the driver would sit if it was the front car. I usually just avoid those sort of "private areas" of the train--becuase they all smell like pee.
Also, I was on a Red Line on the South Side a few months ago, and watched a couple of thuggish teenagers write a long diatribe about a "GD City Takeover 2007" with several gang symbols on the windows of the car with a thick black marker. I was pissed off, but not dumb enough to confront them even though they were all of 14 years old and much smaller than me. I hate feeling intmidated by young punks who I could easily take on if they (1.) weren't armed, or (2.) weren't affiliated with a gang.

OMG..this has happened to me countless times. It sucked when it happened on the bus one time, in the middle of summer. You really don't have an option to switch cars unless you decide to just get off the bus early!

Ok, I have the tell THE story!
A few months ago, I was on the train, Red Line, Southbound, going to class, and the smell on there was unlike anything I had ever encountered. No exaggeration. And it wasn't one of those "who smells?" situations, we knew who it was, because there was ONE person sitting on that end, while everyone else crowded the other end.
A few days later, I'm again going to class, and the same guy gets on. I smelled nothing. He sat on the same end I did, and it was pretty crowded. So we've gone a few stops, and all of a sudden, this man takes off his shoe and sock, and a sonic burst of funktitude assaulted my nose. Literally, everyone got up and either crowded the other end of the car, or went to another. I did not know that one foot was capable of producing something so foul.

I bet it's the same guy. How many people remove their socks on a train? And how many could have such a nausea-inducing odor? I swear, I think I saw green squiggly stink lines coming from his toes.
