That's fine if you're getting off at the next stop, but I was really referring to people who aren't getting off for a long time.

Speaking of that seats thing, is it me, or shouldn't they design the cars with more standing room? Nothing like having to do some acrobatics to avoid hitting people while a third of an overcrowded red line car is trying to get off at Fullerton or Belmont at 6pm on a weekday.

They are getting new cars in a year or so, and they are the nyc style subway cars with a lot more standing room. They can't get here quick enough for me.

You can see the seating design on the new cars here...

They are also unveiling broader GPS tracking for the bus fleet as had been tested on the Madison line. It'd be nice to know if the busses are bunched up and you are going to wait 20 minutes for four of them, that way you can just stay in side longer.
And Drover, I give you my ol' tip o' the cap.

Of course, it will probably take about 3 decades to fully phase in this design. Those "blinker-door" cars they use on the Blue and Pink lines have been in service since the mid-60s. Those should be absolutely banned on the Blue Line or any subway line because their sound deadening is so lousy that going through the tunnels on those things at full speed is positively deafening.
I do like the fact that on the new design people can't sit on the outside seat and make others sit elsewhere, or even worse, climb over them as a car fills (God I hate those dillknobs). Though I imagine now you'll have a handful of wise-asses who sit in the middle of each seat pairing, the raised part in the middle going up their buttcrack... And while that seems like a stretch, some of the antisocial behavior I've witnessed on the trains leads me to believe that it will happen...
