The Cook County board repealed the tax increase. The question is will Stroger veto it? And if he does will the board override the Veto?
"...County Board President Todd Stroger, who vowed to veto the repeal measure."
Daley: Cook County sales tax increase 'very detrimental' | Clout Street - local political coverage
"The Cook County Board has voted 12-3 to repeal a 1 percent sales tax enacted last year, but the move could be short-lived.
Cook County Board President Todd Stroger (STROH'-jer) vowed Tuesday to veto the repeal measure.
It would take 14 of the 17 county board members to override a veto."

"The repeal would bring sales taxes in the city of Chicago down to 9.25 percent. Commissioner Tony Peraica estimated that would save county taxpayers and businesses $400 million next year."

The original vote went ahead with 12 votes to reverse the tax, and there were 2 people who were absent. 3 people voted to keep the tax.
If those 2 people end up voting to override him, the tax will be reppealed. I'm curious to know what their stand is on this issue.

Do you have a link to the actual vote record?
I want to know who was absent and who voted against the repeal.

County Sales Tax Repeal to be Vetoed by Stroger
It looks like our nimwit County Board President is going to veto the sales tax repeal that passed the board with a 12-3 margin:
Spokesman: Stroger to veto sales tax repeal - Chicago Breaking News
Does anyone know if the board can override this veto?
Anway, it looks like we'll continue to have the higest sales tax rate in the country. And we'll also continue to have the dumbest County Board President in the country as well.

I think the override requires 14 of 17 votes. I don't see how Stroger can even think of winning reelection. 266 days till the 2010 primary.

I was under the impression that the sales tax was introduced to pay for all of Stroger's family handouts.
