If it's mid or late summer, consider going to one of the many beaches.

Cheap but still a Hostel. OP should find some deals on Priceline and Hotwire and like sights. Booking Hotel, Hostel and airfare together in them sights can save also in deals.

If a Hotel I like areas North of the Chicago river especially on weekends.
Thanks!!

Have a great trip!
Thanks, sounds great!

The Neo-Futurist's 2016-17 Season - The Neo-Futurists

I loved Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind - they are no longer doing that though since Greg Allen rescinded their license to perform it. I am not sure what their new show is, but they have a fantastic ensemble cast.
Thanks for the information!

You know I hear everyone talk about airbnb but have never tried it! I'll definitely consider the idea though. Thanks.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned it yet, but on your first day it's worth hopping on the Brown Line and riding it through Lincoln Park and around the Loop - it's so pretty in the summer, you see the river, and get some great views of downtown, and you can hop off in Lincoln Park and check out the free zoo, see the cool brownstone homes, and have lunch at Chicago Bagel Authority, which makes awesome bagel sandwiches.
