southside or westside chicago?
i know both gets a bad rap, but which one is worse and why? i heard a lot about the southside part, but not enough about the westside.

Actually in overrall sense, the westside is more poverty stricken and more crime ridden than the southside and have hardly any good areas pass the United Center. You have to remember in population that the southside is the size of Philadelphia and Bronx, NY; so the southside d o have alot of good neighborhoods.

It doesn't really matter does it??? Southside, westside, northside are all apart of Chicago- and all of the "sides" have at least one blighted neighborhood. OP check your thread about "Which Zip codes need to be Avoided" forum for more info.

There are good and bad areas on the West Side. There are good and bad areas on the South Side. The "comparison" the OP is asking for is pretty much impossible to do without over generalizing and stigmatizing a huge swath of the city.
