Now now. That was high school. Now I only drink Natty Light whilst out fishing back in the Carolinas during the summer. On those hot days, nothing else will do.
I like the good stuff, too. Lately I've been on a Smithwick's jag, but I'm usually a German beer guy.
Though I do know that Goldie's on Lincoln has dollar PBRs every day...

If you're a German beer guy I would hope you've spent quality time at Resi's, Laschett's, Glunz and Huettenbar...

I probably live less than 50 yards from the Huettenbar. In case you're wondering, that is stumbling distance.
I've been to two of the others, but not to Laschet's. It's on the list, now. Thanks, Drover!

Laschett's is practically across the street from Resi's, maybe 8 doors to the west. Nice place, great crowd.
(Man this thread is way off topic now... sorry )

At some point I should just make a "beer" thread and I'll have drover moderate it...

Meh. I like this topic better than the original anyway.
I'm all for a "beer" forum, MDZ. Drover'd be perfect for it.

That makes me almost want to move back further up north.

Someone please tell me what it is about beer that makes you get so excited. I've tasted all the major brands and just don't get it. Is there a special brand that I should taste before I just give up completely? I always feel so left out of beer conversations. I want to belong!!

If I remember correctly, you're female... the beers that turned my ex into a beer enthusiast are Celis Raspberry, New Glarus Belgian Red Ale (a cherry-based beer) and New Glarus Raspberry Tart. Unfortunately the New Glarus brand is only available in Wisconsin for now, but you might try getting your hands on that. Another good "female-friendly" beer is Lindeman's Frambois. Their Kriek (French for Cherry) Cassis (French for currant) and Peche (Flemish for Peach) varieties are quite tasty too. But stay away from their Pomme (apple).

You know, I'm female too, and I have a problem with all of those fruit flavored beers. But then again, I'm a bit of an odd female when it comes to my alcohol tastes (I generally don't like the sweet stuff), I like bourbon and insist my martinis consist solely of gin and vermouth.
However, if you are the sort of female that likes sweet drinks (as do most females I know), then Dover's advice is spot on.
