..oh, and stay away from 60622 (trust me on that one)

Of course, if you happen to find yourself in 60622, you watch out for constant gang rumbles between the Smoke Daddy Desciples and the SoKo Boutique Kings.
Seriously though, the western portion of 60622 is definitely not to be trifled with...

Hey, did you ever go to the Great Beer Palace (German bar in Lincoln Square replaced by a generic blue and white pseudo Bavarian joint) before it closed? In my younger years I once succumbed to their 'viking raid', and managed to finish it too, barely.
|
That place was fun, but as I used to put it, it was a total "sausage factory". Definitely wouldn't go there to pick up the ladies. The viking helmets were a hoot, they also the big glass boot full of beer you could buy for your table. Everyone passes it around and the person who finishes it next to last has to buy a new round. Easy way to die.

I really am tired of the 'worst area' threads. The folks who comment on them are not considering going there -- its just sort of commenting on bad places from afar, sorta snobbish. Others may disagree, but I consider it cyber-slumming.
What, are people congratulating themselves that they don't have to live around there? What's the point of this if people don't really consider visiting an attraction in the area? Its like some beknighted voyeurism.

I'm more frightened of the Rainbo Lords and the Club Foot Fiends, but that is just me.
Actually though, someone was just shot yesterday over by on Blackhawk and Division, so they are still working some stuff out over here.
Which leads me to the real reason reason to avoid 60622, you don't want to run into me

Well the OP of this thread is an obvious trolltwit and the exact kind of person for whom the negative rep button was designed, but some people who plan to move here might genuinely need some guidance as to what areas to avoid when they're apartment-hunting from a distance and don't have a chance to put feet to the ground and assess the neighborhood where a promising apartment is listed.

I know, personally, it was shocking and disappointing to read all the negative things I did about the south side. I'd lived on the southeast side for 21 years and had never experienced the issues that I've seen talked about here.
I've gotten over my initial surprise and take all the negative comments in stride. I'm still proud to call myself a southsider.

So in other words, right by Noble Square... not a huge surprise I suppose.
