You will be seeing those temperature differences in about.... OHHHHHHH 3 weeks now. Pay close attention to your weatherbug in weeks to come. Here are the zip codes to compare to. Use 60451 or 60433, then use 60076 or 60611 and watch what happens on days when winds are howling out of the NE. It is a real eye opener. Even right now as I sit here there is a 7 degree difference between Orland Park (60462) and Skokie (60076). Oh and for a little more fun... Use your weatherbug's live cam feature and you will notice something... South side... NO SNOW ON THE GROUND. North side like Morton Grove, Mt. Prospect, Algonquin, and Hoffman Estates, there is still snow on the ground.
First of I am not a woman. Do not call me hun unless you expect a swift punch to the chin. There has not been snow on the ground on the Northside of Chicago or anywhere else in Chicago I have been to for quite a few days... Whatever....and I do not live in Skokie-I live in Chicago not anywhere close to Skokie.

2. Sukwoo hit the nail on the head (I'd give her more rep if the site would let me). Automobile centered suburbs actually GENERATE traffic. Urban Planners have a whole new theory based on this traffic generation principal. Oak Park had very quiet streets because it isn't that convenient to drive everywhere. Newer suburbs don't offer any other choice.
See we agree sometimes. In addition, I love playing Sim City, but that game is far from perfect.

Heh... this is true. Spring is the one time of year when it's not so good to be living along the lakefront. Seems like most years it stays chilly and windy along the lake all the way up to Memorial Day... and sometimes beyond.

Not true. While the lake is swimmable only 4 months of the year, I live one block from the lake and can assure you that the lakefront gets used by some throughout the year, weather conditions permitting.

I think Mayor Daley has turned the business sector and downtown around .He deserves a lot of credit for that. We have corruption but I do not blame Daley. We need to fix the CPS. Chicago had a dual school system. Those with Catholic school educations were taught to sit still, learn to read ,have respect for authority and your community.Parents were at home not out partying. We thought our parents were so strict THEY WERE RIGHT.We need to work together.Clean up the mess and reorder our priorities. We do not need a moment of silence in schools CHILDREN HAVE TO LEARN TO BE QUIET ALL DAY. turn the TV off . Never was it on during the day. No air conditioning either and we lived with no car most of the time.Walking or taking a bus is a life skill. Walking to school sure helped you stay in shape. We had no money for junk food. No pop allowed in the house.

If "da mayah" and his cronies keep robbing the tax payers blind and perpetually raiding the coffers and crying broke, downtown Chicago will begin to resemble downtown Cleveland. A lot of businesses are moving to the western suburbs (hallelujah since working downtown sucks major ass anyway). The rest of Cook County is sick of bailing out corrupt, perpetually broke ass Chicago. The schools have sucked for a couple of decades and as long as Chicago is an illegal alien sanctuary, the population, crime and crappy schools will remain a constant drain. All of the politicians need to be arrested and jailed. The latinos in Chicago government have taken over and are making sure that its all about the illegal alien population.

That ticking sound you hear, is the time bomb known as Chicago. . . .

Default Changing Chicago...

Just throwing some ideas out here and looking for some feedback and/or insight on some of these thoughts.

After living in Chicago for almost over a year I've noticed that Chicagoans are very connected to their city. Most people are connected to their cities but Chicagoans do seem more connected than other places. There is a lot of pride in this city and rightfully so. Chicago is a great city. The best all-around city in the country IMO. It doesn't have the best weather, crime is still an issue, and there are still issues with the way the city is being governed but...The summer here is the best in the country, the city is beautiful, the people are great, and the city is still somewhat affordable.

There's some aspects of the city that you can't change (ie weather) but there's a lot of aspects about the city that we can change.

Ultimately the citizens of Chicago hold all of the power. Instead of complaining at work, bitching on the train, or letting off fume at the bar...Chicagoans can actually change things. I'm being hypocrtical in the fact that I'm typing on the internet and not organinzing in the streets but let me give you one example.

How many people in the city hate the fact that the meters in the city were outsourced? Meter prices have tripled. It literally isn't affordable for many people to drive in the city anymore. What if people protested the meter prices going up? What if thousands of Chicagoans took to the streets and demanded the prices be lowered? CPD are citizens as well and I'm sure they'd have to hide their grins as they do their job of controlling the crowd.

What if we as Chicagoans actually started to use our power? How could we change this city? How would the country react to seeing the citizens of Chicago organized, united, and impacting change? We pay Daley...not the other way around.

Any feedback is encouraged.
