So Lookout, what do you think of the Carbon and Carbide Building, the Mather Tower and the Pure Oil Building? I like all of them.
And I think the Board of Trade is so cool. I worked down there for EF Hutton in the "yuppie" phase of my life.
All architectural gems. It's always fun to look at old pictures of the skyline when these building dominated.
People have started calling the Pure Oil Buidling the "Jeweler's Building" again, by the way. Though it's not used for either function anymore. I'm not sure why it reverted to the old name.
Thanks for having a part in ****ing up this country.
There is a reason you do not live in the U.S.A. anymore.
You might get lucky and avoid the pitchforks. Then again maybe you will not.
The only part accountants played was marking down the securities from their inflated value to reflect their real value.
And for that, you're welcome.
Don't confuse us with financial managers. Our professions are only distantly related. They make decisions and use money; we just keep track of where it goes.

Indeed. Are you familiar with the Cushman photo archives at Indiana U? Many wonderful photos of Chicago (and the many other places) taken by this Cushman fella from the 30s through the 60s. They're online.
As a child (me) the Tribune Tower and the Wrigley building dominated north of the river along with the Hancock. The Marina Towers had a presence as well.
Once Water Tower Place went up things started to change.
There's beauty in the solace of not giving a damn.

I know that there are some guys on here that are still "in the "closet"! You "Drove" into a hot topic that is like "Fire". And some might want to "Avenge" you for doing so.
So I'm Asian, grew up middle class, went Ivy for college (scholarships and loans), went to medical school, worked my ass off for four years (plus residency), now practicing medicine and doing better financially than I ever expected to do. Drive a Volvo, drink Starbucks, and shop at Whole Foods. Still dress like a graduate student. Am I a yuppie?
No, you're someone who worked hard to get where they are and deserve to reap the financial rewards and benefits of that commitment. People that would look at you with disdain for walking out of Starbucks and getting into your Volvo on the way to pilates are simply ignorant, stupid or both.
In case you were not aware, living the yuppie lifestyle is a choice. Don't even try to compare any of the hardships that low-income Latinos and African American have dealt with to that of rich overprivileged yuppie brats. I'm not going to sit up late at night and feel sad because a yuppie was made fun of somewhere.
There you go again, assuming a person with money and living well is someone who sat around the country club pool while growing up while daddy the cigar chewing banker stepped on the throats of the poor as he ripped what little cash they had out of their fingers.
You've spent too much time in front of the TV. Very very few people inherit their wealth anymore. Most have to work and sacrifice for it.
