Is anyone here a Yuppie brave enough to come out of the closet?
I see this term (yuppie) thrown around quite a bit on this forum. Usually, it's in the context of somone trying to denegrate a group of people for being successful and having high levels of acheivement. I don't know if it's jealousy or what, but don't hold comtempt for someone else because they have the means. Is it all about money? Maybe, it certainly is important these days.

The opposite of a young urban professional would be an old, country, blue collar worker.
There's nothing wrong with the idea of a yuppie per se, but some yuppies don't give a crap about the neighborhoods they move into, the people they see on a daily basis and they judge others based on what coach purse they're carrying around this week.
...And they tear down perfectly lovely bungalows.

I'd much rather live around gangbangers and drug dealers than yuppies. Keeps the neighborhood safer.

Old country unemployed people, or Ocups, are the opposite of Yuppies. And the opposite of "Die Yuppie scum!" is "Live Ocup revered ones!".

The only good bungalow is one with a backhoe on top of it and a dumptruck in front of it.

I definitely agree that there is a huge slant on this forum against areas that cater to a more "yuppie" crowd. Which is actually such a dumb word and so 80's. Usually people throw it around when they mean people with higher incomes. I see LOTS of generalizations made by the same contributors that will claw your eyes out if you say the wrong thing about their neighborhoods even if it is the truth! I think they are called cyber bullies. It's quite off putting and will lead to the demise of this site because the user demographic will grow narrower and narrower. If you don't believe me, try posting something about the City of Chicago doing something right anywhere on this site and watch the rage~! Or better yet, recommend to someone that they go to an establishment that doesn't have 4 dollar drinks.
