Big resort hotels do like big grand lobbies. Dubai ones do.

I just hope it can get re-purposed successfully.

Well IT'S OFFICIAL. "Governor Pritzker puts The Thompson Center up for sale".
Establishing a two-year timeline to sell the 1980s Postmodern Icon.

https://chicago.curbed.com/2019/4/8/...le-jb-pritzker

I'm hoping for giving it at least Landmark status to save it from total destruction by any buyer.

Rauner put it up for sale too and Rahm kept blocking it because of the CTA station, he wanted developers to completely remodel it which made it unprofitable for them

That el stop is a huge junction and needs to be state of the art. Def use TIF funds for that. I'm not a fan of Thompson center and sounds like a complete waste of money. Hope it's sold quickly and new highrises and CTA station replace it.

Tear it down and build a supertall, the building is ugly and impractical. Cater to the 1% and bring an ultra luxury residential tower to the Loop which desperately needs some tall modern buildings. 800' and below does not make an impact.
