Default What's River North like?

My wife and I are looking at an apartment on West Superior and North Clark. We are in our late 30's and expecting a baby. Would love to hear any opinions on the area.

I used to live in a condo one block south of there (Clark and Huron) but I decided to move to a quieter and less hectic neighborhood.
How you view it really depends where you are moving from, if you dont mind noise and high rise living.
Parking will definitely be a problem (you will need to rent a spot if you plan on keeping a car there) but the good news is there are many restaurants/stores and even the lake within walking distance or a short cab ride. There is a red line stop at chicago and state or the brown line at chicago and franklin.
There is a catholic charities homeless shelter one block west of there which can be a bit annoying (sorry if I sound like a jerk but its the truth), just a heads up.

Nightlife but with older crowds (meaning not the college kids you get up in Lakeview), plenty to do but lots of people, art galleries, used to be considered an edgier neighborhood way back when but now is very gentrified/yuppified (not saying that in a bad way at all). The location is great for being close to the lake, shopping, commuting to the western burbs, going downtown.

Though Superior and Clark is awfully close to the infamous Excalibur! That's even YOUNGER than Lakeview sometimes. That place cracks me up.

Default river north

Last summer I lived by Clark and Huron. I liked that I could easily walk to the loop. The stop on the red line is right by the YMCA and I hated walking by there. One time a homeless person actually chased me by there and called me a "white devil". This was while I was walking my large German Shephard.

There are also a LOT of tourists, which can get annoying, especially when you are trying to get somewhere quickly and they are walking super slow down the sidewalk, with their American Girl bags, en route to Rainforest Cafe.
