Lepoisson, I had to look up Jerk Taco Man, and: Man, do they have some great reviews! Garfield Park is not typically my stomping grounds. I usually go for tacos in Little Village. But, enjoy! Thanks for posting!

Master Jay, with so many taco restaurants in Little Village which one do you prefer? I'll be in that area next week and wouldn't mind a suggestion...thanks in advance

WGP is not worth renting in. You can definitely find a safer area for the $.

I think the draws to that area are the Conservatory / Great transit options, but it definitely has cons that outweigh these options. If you are looking at WGP as an investment - that is a different story. It is fine to invest in (given the current low prices), but I would only recommend this if you are planning on not being an owner-occupant.

West Garfield Park is absolutely a horrible, crime ridden community area! Although to the east, in East Garfield Park, it's an intirely different story with promising potential.

noid_1985, my children and I have an affection for Lalo's on W. 26th Street, where it intersects with Kedvale Avenue (between Pulaski and Kostner). I can tell you that the salsa is different than the Lalo's on Maxwell Street and in Glenview (it is much more spicer). Lalo's is awesome that they bring you chips and salsa AND a bowl of chicken noodle soup BEFORE you even order your meal!

Crime decreases dramatically once you go east of Kedzie. Eastern edge of East Garfield Park is comparable to the area by United Center.

Please read the rules set forth in the Sticky thread. The topic of crime is now off limits in this forum. Such threads inevitably devolve into bashing, personal attacks, bickering and worse. This thread is now closed.
