People are not demanding the removal of Confederate Statues because they are traitors to the US, they believe it is racist to keep the statues, due to the south's view on slavery. Washington was a slave owner, so by that same logic shouldn't his statues be removed? For the record, I think this is all insane, just playing devils advocate.

They were traitors that supported slavery. They were not heroes but were terrible people.

Washington is clearly different. He was the leader of the revolutionary army and first president. He even freed his slaves.

I'm not sure how Washington is "clearly different"; if the south had won the civil war, they would view their leaders as "heroes", just as if the US lost the revolutionary war, Washington would be looked at the same way we look at the south. Obviously that didn't happen, but your point of view is only one version.
Ask the native people how they feel about George Washington.

^ Exactly. Washington and the founding fathers were traitors in the eyes of the British, and they technically were.

What a waste of time and energy. Where did all this madness originate? Do we not have more pressing issues to deal with other than arguing over the removal of some stupid statues?

The confederates lost and losers don't get nor they deserve statues. There is a reason the statue at United Center is of Jordan and not a 3rd string bench warmer. That's the reason why the city doesn't have parades for our teams when they lose. No participation trophies

At any rate, this is a non issue. One pastor who nobody knows out of 2.7 million people whines, who cares. Washington statue is not going to be removed so focus your outrage over something else, like Starbucks putting happy holidays on their cups

You're confused on a couple points:

1. You say losers don't get statues, yet they currently HAVE statues of confederate soldiers

2. The entire debate has gone completely over your head; the statues are being removed because some believe they represent racism.

With point #2, if there is a racist sentiment to the statues, then why are we not removing George Washington Statues and removing Thanksgiving as a national Holiday, and removing all of the "racist" historical holidays/statues/people/etc from 2017?

The world has gone completely insane.
This all sounds pretty awesome to me, quite frankly.

in the case of the confederate statues, almost all of them were put up in the mid point of the 20th century as a racist reaction to the civil rights movement, many of them being put in front city halls and courthouses. think about the message this was sending at the time, and the message it still sends today

I said losers don't deserve statues. Do you disagree? Let's throw a parade for the Bulls and Bears while we are at it even though they suck.

Losers and traitors don't deserve statues, at least not one honoring them. Why not put up a statue of Timothy McVeigh while we are at it.
